A new year always feels like a fresh beginning again and for some reason it always makes me think of the lovely newborns and their families we have visiting the studio.
What happens in a newborn shoot? Well, beforehand its always good to chat and try and get a feel for the style/type of shots that you would like taking. There are numerous backdrops and colours that we offer as well as whether you would like naked or wrapped babies, with little props or babies in your favourite outfits. This always helps to know your style so we can be ready for you when you arrive.
To get a variety of different poses and shots we allow 2 hours. DONT PANIC...we are not photographing your little one constantly for 2 hours, as they often need a feed, cuddle and love and this gives us the ability to do just that. If, its very apparent that your little one isn't settling then we just look at booking you in again at a better time.
When is the best time? If you want the lovely "curling" shots, then definitely in the first 2 weeks (if they are bigger babies) and 3 weeks if they are smaller. However, we have done newborn shoots in the first month.
These shots displayed here are all taken from the same 2 hour shoot. The images are a mixture of colour and black and white, you get to see all the images at the time of the shoot and then the edited ones after the shoot. We upload them to a private website gallery for viewing. We also provide you with a lovely Smart Phone Gallery that will rotate favourite images and is easy to use, share and show on your phones.
Not everyone wants to be photographed after they have just given birth but it does give you some wonderful memories, if your feeling a little more conscious of this then we can give you top tips and advice on how to get great shots that show the love and emotions and take the emphasis away from your body.
How many shots do we take? As many as we can in the time allowed. We are there to ensure you and yourlittle one are happy and comfortable. We work as a team, I'll prep and plan the shot and Mandy will keep your little one happy and help with the wrapping and posing. If you purchase the entire collection they will all come to you in Colour, Black and White and as special effects. If you purchase the frame & digitals they too will come to you in a variety of formats. The package that starts at £60 allows you to make the decisions on what you want after the shoot.
We are open Tuesdays to Fridays for Newborn Shoots, we understand that its really hard to predict births and times to book in and have complete flexibility of taking a booking usually a week before is still fine.
The images listed here are all from a single shoot, with a newborn boy and his mummy and daddy. We have suggested a frame layout here and this you can see in our shop windows if you are passing over the coming month, although we have included this in a white mount with a lovely Grey contemporary frame.
We love working with the little ones its a beautiful job and we feel very lucky. Even with the yucky bits (yes they do happen and yes we are prepared) its a pleasure to welcome you to Captcha. If you would like to add an older sibling then of course this is not a problem we usually suggest that we do this either at the beginning or end of the shoot as sometimes little toddlers in particular don't have the patience to deal with 2 hours in the studio.
