Its not every day that you get to meet Human Hedges, but that is exactly what happened to us at Captcha on Wednesday of this week at Beaumont Shopping Centre. Human Hedges (Ed and Imogen) had been booked to welcome shoppers, but I was so very surprised when it became a hedge hugging day. Our human hedges have just come back from Dubai and are off to Belgium next week and have also spent a weekend at a major celebrities wedding (sorry folks can't reveal that one!) and they are at the oval (cricket ground) as I write...so it really was a big coo that they came to Beaumont shopping centre.
I understand kids getting excited, nervous and curious about our lovely green friends but what surprised me the most was the way our older population, both male and female reacted to it all. And...Hedge Hugging became the therapeutic activity of the day. The day had been promoted by Beaumont Shopping Centre and their owners, British Land. As a way of keeping fun in shopping British Land have many more of these PR activities happening across the UK in their shopping centres. Just keep your eyes open for the promotions. We shall be back at Beaumont on the 9th of August where I believe there are some wiley gardeners around the centre...not sure if they are huggers or just in to their plants, for that we shall just have to wait and see!
